Subject: Cool Toaster/Flyer/Drives
Sender: owner-lightwave@webcom.webcom.com
Precedence: bulk
Keeping things cool:
To keep my A4000 from burning up I use a clip-on fan pointed right at the
small panel in the left rear of the A4000. This panel has holes punched in
it and the fan does a good job of moving air into the chassis. The back left
side with the Toaster and Flyer and mem units gets pretty hot. With the fan
in place the cover stays pretty much at ambient temp, about 78 F. I haven't
checked inside, I'll do the Radio Shlock remote probe thermometer thing now
that I know about it. (Remember, Radio Shack is your FRIEND).
My drives (2 2gig, 750Meg audio drive, CDROM) are in a Drive In and so far no
problem. These things are turned on ALL the time. (At this price, they
better be working even when I'm not!) So far I've had no trouble with this
setup.
